Three of our Trustees are currently in Cox’s Bazaar in Bangladesh and have sent the following update.
“The situation is dire with refugees queueing hours for everything. Whether it is to receive clean water and food or just to use toilets, everything we take for granted, these people are queueing in the burning sun.
(Today we) drove to the Myanmar border, (and) met some of the Rohingya refugees.
We took part in the distribution of the packs, saw the organization by the military, heard stories from them first hand. Alhamdulillah, all I can say is that I’ve been very humbled. We have SO much alhamdulillah. These people have nothing except the clothes they wear. Their families have been ripped apart. So very very sad, very emotional. (I) feel physically and emotionally drained. Alhamdulillah Allah has given us this opportunity. Alhamdulillah the MCEC funds are helping so much here.
Next, we must think about sustainability – medical facilities and training the Rohingya in basic medicine, education facilities and training them to teach – etc, etc. We need to think about helping them establish livelihoods and the future for them.”
Your donations have pushed us close to our £25000 target. Our next goal is to take it to £40000.
