Religious places are sacred. There are no doubts about this. Whether attacks are on synagogues, churches, mosques, temples or gurdwaras, the sanctity of such places cannot be allowed to be sacrificed.
The last few days of attacks on minority and religious communities culminated in this weekend’s attack in Pittsburgh at the Tree of Life synagogue. This is a symptom of the toxic world we are increasingly living in. One which we must all combat.
During a bris, a ceremony to mark a child’s birth, a time for celebration, the inhuman act of violence was committed and mowed down our brothers and sisters of faith in cold blood and hatred.
We as a Muslim community pray for those departed souls and those injured. We all pray for peace in our world and for all the souls lost through hatred filled vile acts of violence and crimes against humanity.
